How to create your Authentic Happiness?

What is Happiness? Well, that's a big rhetorical question. The good news is that knowing yourself will help you to find the keys to your Authentic Happiness. Let me explain.

Why nobody teaches us about happiness?

Well, it is our own lesson of life. I mean, out of the generalizations that happiness might be true love, strong relationships, passions, sometimes dark chocolate, inner peace and yes.. money in some cases can make us happier as well.. I would say that happiness is in our everyday choices that lead us to better life. The life we choose.

Happiness is a process, not a destination. Every little detail of life, every experience can make us happier human beings and can matter a lot in the big picture.

In order to create more Happiness that is authentic to you in your every-day life, I would like to highlight some aspects that can be useful to keep in mind.

1. Accept that the process of happiness is not always happy

And that’s ok. To achieve something we want and progress in life we might suffer on the way too. You can call it –  being out of your comfort zone!

Accept that the sad and bad days are also parts of the happiness journey, parts of making our life choices and learning on the way. They don’t mean that you are not a happy person. Happy people also have their bad days! What we can do to make the process better is to choose how we look at life events and see the beauty in simple things.

Try to notice something beautiful every day – it will help you to focus on the good. And reflect on the steps you have already made.

2. You have the answers

The only person who knows what makes you happier is you,  so I kindly suggest spending some time with yourself and becoming aware of these little things that make your day better.

Become your best friend and ask yourself questions you would ask another person you would like to understand better. Try these:

  • What do I enjoy doing?
  • What made me smile today/yesterday?
  • What do I believe is beautiful about this world?

Sometimes it can help to ask your closest people – what have they noticed about you that make you and people around you happier, lighter and more energetic?  Most probably these answers are your unique, authentic ways of being your truthful happy you!

3. Act within your authenticity

When you have identified what are the things about you and about the world that make you feel happy, satisfied, fulfilled, grateful, inspired… act in this manner. You can only attract what you already are. Use your authentic traits and attributes to create better outcomes.

Easier said than done, I know. Here I will share some examples of my own life – some of the keys for my happiness and wellbeing daily.

My Authentic keys to Happiness :

  1. Finding meaning and stories within life events
I have noticed that I always turn everything into stories and try to find meaning in daily events. People use to say: “Inese always has something interesting to tell…” or “Inese will not post it on Instagram without any deep description”. It truly helps me to appreciate and relate to life.

  2.  Breakfasts!!!
Seriously, I am THAT breakfast person that wakes up hungry most of the mornings, and I love it! The best way to start my day is having a breakfast. Absolutely my favorite meal of the day and gives me the happy morning energy!

  3. Taking walks. Nature. Travelling.
Walking keeps me alive and fine even when there is a mess and much tension in my body and mind. Moving, travelling, changing the context – it gives me new perspective of the world. Seeing the clouds, the sea and the mountains – that’s pure joy!

  4. Truthful conversations with people
Talking to the closest friends and family. But not only. I really enjoy 1:1 conversations with people I meet alone, because I believe that then they are more honest and closer to themselves. Smiles. Laughs. Communication.

  5. Art, Flowers and Cats
These are my little external mood savers. These things are beauty to me and I have been loving them since being a kid. Seeing or creating art, having flowers at home or saying Hi! to a street cat. It might sound strange but that’s so me!

It does not have to be more complex than this. Your authentic keys to happiness can be deep and they can also be very simple. The important part is to KNOW them and DO them, implementing these things in your daily life and creating these happy moments into your routine.

So the question is – what are your authentic keys to happiness?
